April Bodette, M.S.

Rostered Psychotherapist

SPECIALTY: Mental Health & Substance Abuse Counselor; Children & Families, Adolescents, Developmental Disabilities and Groups

Born and raised here in the Northeast Kingdom has given me the opportunity to experience first-hand the difficulties individuals and families face when it comes to real life issues. I provide a safe empathetic and no judgment space for us to work together as we find the right path to follow. We can work on issues that relate to trauma, abandonment, attachment, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and transitioning from one life experience to the next. I have experience with the youth who are in transition. These transitions are anything from leaving high school to attend college, having been in incarceration back in to their community, or individuals seeking employment. I also have the experience of working with families and children who are in transition to foster care or adoption.

Many adults face some of the same issues as our youth. I believe it is important to have strong interpersonal skills to identify barriers, understand what makes these barriers, and be able to express emotions and thoughts in a healthy way. The work we do through a strength based practice and acceptance commitment approach will open up opportunities to achieve a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

A healthy living style is important and not always easy. I will support you with finding community resources in order to get your needs met.

My therapeutic approach is one that will be best suited for the individual or family I am working with. I like to pull from a strength based practice using Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-Focused, Person/Client Centered (Humanistic), Psychodynamic, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) approach.
